**OPP NEWS RELEASE**

On April 15, 2019, shortly before 2 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Temiskaming Detachment were notified of found human remains in Coleman Township, South East of the Town of Cobalt, Ontario.

Temiskaming OPP members, with the assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Unit (FIS), OPP Crime Unit, and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) are continuing this investigation under the direction of Detective S/Sgt Kurtis Fredericks of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

 

The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-FPS) are also engaged in this investigation.

At this time, the identity of the deceased has not been confirmed. A post-mortem examination will take place at a later date.

There are no further details at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

The OPP will provide further information as it becomes available.
