**MATTAGAMI REGION CONSERVATION AUTHORITY NEWS RELEASE**

The Flood Warning for the Mattagami River, issued on April 26, 2019, will remain in effect until May 21, 2019. A Flood Warning message serves as notification to the general public that flooding is imminent or already occurring in specific watercourses.

Low lying areas along the Mattagami River are still flooded and water levels in the area remain higher than normal. Residents in flood prone areas near the Mattagami River are reminded to continue monitoring the conditions near their properties. Sandbags are still being made available by the municipality. The Flood Advisory Committee continues to meet on a regular basis to review watershed conditions and forecasts.

Residents are reminded to remove unsecured material and equipment from shoreline areas and be prepared with a household emergency plan should a flood emergency be declared. Parents are again asked to let their children know about the dangers of playing in and around lakes, rivers, streams and flooded areas.

Further updates will be issued in the coming days as conditions change. For more information, contact the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority at 705-360-2660.
