**CITY OF TIMMINS NEWS RELEASE**

Timmins Mayor George Pirie has recently returned from attending the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities’ (FONOM) annual conference in the City of Greater Sudbury, and is looking forward to welcoming the organization’s members to Timmins in 2020.
“While this conference provides wonderful learning opportunities from the various speakers, it also allows the host community to highlight some of their success stories,” explained Mayor Pirie.

“The three-day conference covered topics of broader municipal interest, but the host city of Sudbury was also provided with an opportunity to present the Power of Partnerships with Science North project, and showcase what else was happening in their community.”

The FONOM Conference has grown to more than 250 delegates and exhibitors. The FONOM conference is expected to bring over $100,000 of economic activity to the community which includes hotels, restaurants, gas stations and retail. Tourism Timmins and the City of Timmins look forward to hosting the 2020 FONOM Conference in May 2020.
