**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has arrested a local man stemming from an
allegation of sexual assault upon a female person, received by the Timmins Police
Service. The incident is alleged to have occurred at a Timmins hotel located in the downtown
core during the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 26th.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers completed a comprehensive investigation
which included deployment of officers from the Criminal Investigation Division as well as
the Forensic Identifications Section.
Based on the investigation, the identity of the suspect was determined.
The suspect was located and arrested without incident yesterday afternoon by the
Timmins Police Service.

As a result of this incident, George STEPHEN, 28, of Timmins, was taken into custody
and is charged with
– Aggravated Sexual Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke contrary to the Criminal Code of
Canada
– Sexual Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Uttering Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Forcible Confinement contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of
Canada
– Carrying a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Criminal Harassment contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
