**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an assaultive altercation which occurred during the noon hour at an intersection of downtown Timmins on Tuesday, August 13th. The Timmins Police Service responded to a complaint received where it is alleged that a local woman encountered a person known to her and allegedly assaulted her.

It is further alleged that after having struck the person, the suspect fled the immediate area.
The responding Timmins Police Service officer was able to positively identify and locate the female suspect a short time later that same day.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, Juanita CHAKASIM, 26, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The woman remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
