The Timmins Film Society was excited to announce today that there will be a Timmins Film Festival and a Short Film Contest held in Timmins. The weekend long fun will take place from November 8-10. All of the movies will be streamed at our local Imagine Cinemas, and the movies that will be played have yet to be announced.

The Short Film Contest will allow people aged 19+ to submit a 6-8 minute long video and the winner of the contest will have their short film played on the big screen at Imagine Cinemas, and win a cash prize. If you would like to be a part of the full weekend tickets will be sold for $65, and if you can’t attend the movies on the Friday, there will also be a gala held at the Timmins Museum that will begin at 9PM. You can purchase separate tickets for the gala for the cost of $15. The Film Society also announced that there will be a panel discussion on the Saturday at Imagine Cinemas; the guest speakers have yet to be announced, but according to Paul Charette who is on the Timmins Film Society Board, the guest speakers will likely be some very well known people who work in the film making industry.

He also went on to add that if you do plan on buying tickets for the festival, you might want to buy them early because seats are limited. For more details on the festival you can visit the Timmins Film Society Facebook page, and for more details on the Short Film Contest you can visit the Timmins Museum website.
