The Timmins Rock only have three home games in the month of November, and they kicked off the month in the win column.

The Rock were taking on the French River Rapids, and they knew that they couldn’t take the Rapids lightly in this one.

The Rock beat the Rapids 4-1 in their first meeting which was at the Mac on September 6. In their second meeting back on October 13, the Rock had home ice advantage once again and beat the Rapids 9-1. In their third meeting, French River had to defend home ice, and did; They pulled off a 2-1 upset. Now in their fourth meeting, both teams know that they can’t underestimate each other, and fans were in for a good game.

The first period didn’t see much action, but it did end with the Rapids having a 1-0 lead, thanks to a late power play goal. The Rock were going into the first intermission down one, but would be starting the second period with a man advantage.

Right out of the gates into the second, Josh Dickson who has been huge for the Rock so far, scored his 11th of the season.

The Rock were the better team from that point on, and it showed on the shot clock. At the end of the second period the Rock were out shooting the Rapids 37-17. But the Rapids were hanging on and didn’t make it easy for the Rock. The Rapids goaltender was on, and their defense were getting into a lot of the Rock’s shooting lanes and blocking a lot of shots.

The Rapids survived the second, and the Rock were playing a good two way game, as the second ended all locked up at one goal a piece.

The highly anticipated third period began, and the Rock started off strong. About a minute and a half into the third, Karter Renouf lets one rip from the top of the circle and makes it 2-1 for the Rock.

It was still early, so now the Rock had two options: Score an insurance goal, or defend. Even though the Rock didn’t score another one, it doesn’t mean they weren’t trying. The Rock out shot the Rapids 23-5 in the third period. The Rapids had a hot goalie, which is the main reason why the Rock were held to only two goals. The game would end with one final shot from the Rapids, and a big save from Rock goaltender Vance Meyer, and the Rock won 2-1.

In this win the Rock showed that they can protect a lead, they showed resilience, and they showed discipline.

The three stars of the game were: (1)Josh Dickson TR 1G, (2)Chase Johnson FR 58SV, (3)Vance Meyer TR 21SV(3)

The Rock’s next home game will be on Sunday November 17th at 2:00PM, and they take on the Blind River Beavers, while Toronto Maple Leaf Legend, Curtis Joseph rolls into town.
