The Timmins Rock took a 3-1 loss to the Cochrane Crunch this past Friday, but on the following night, they bounced back with a 4-2 win.

Prior to the game, the Rock took part in a ceremony to honour over 70 years of commitment to Hockey and the Community that the late Luigi “Lou” Bottachio put in. That ceremony definitely made the Rock want to win even more.. you could see it from the first drop of the puck.

The game was close from start to finish and the Rock were happy to come up with the two points.

“It’s our best win of the year” -Said Timmins Rock Head Coach Corey Beer.

“Because of the adversity coming into this game, the lack of compete last night (Friday Jan 31) how we were challenged to build back from that. I loved everything about tonight (Saturday Feb 1). We got in a lot of guys faces and challenged them to be better, and we got great responses up and down the lineup. Guys who had bad starts, came back with great finishes.” -Head Coach Corey Beer.

The goals in that game came from: Stewart Parnell who scored two goals in the contest and the game winning goal came from Cameron Kosurko, who scored after the puck took a strange bounce over Crunch goaltender Zach Wickson.

Rock forward Josh Dickson, went on to add an empty netter and scored the Rock’s fourth goal.

The Rock, now have a busy week ahead of them. They have a game against the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners on the road tomorrow, which will be a tough battle as the Gold Miners are on a two game winning streak and recently upset the Powassan Voodoos 4-3 in an overtime thriller. Then, the Rock host the Voodoos on Thursday at the Mac which will be a crucial game, as both teams are fighting for first place. Then, the Rock take on the Crunch once again on Friday!

The Playoffs are getting closer, which means games are beginning to have a lot more meaning, and wins are becoming very important! Tickets for Thursday’s home game are available online at TimminsRock.Com or you can purchase them at the door.
