The number of COVID-19 cases in the Porcupine Health Unit region is now one case away from reaching 30. As a 29th case of COVID-19 was confirmed by the Health Unit this morning.

The 29th case belongs to a male in his 30’s who lives in the Area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls, Smooth Rock Falls.

As of yesterday, the health unit is aware of 387 tests submitted locally. Of those, 28 were positive and 314 were negative. They are waiting on the results of 45 tests. Five positive cases have been resolved.

COVID-19 is circulating in our area. Take preventive measures to reduce the spread: physical distancing — keeping at least 2 metres or 6 feet distance — between yourself and others. Everyone, not just travellers, please stay home if you’re feeling ill.
