**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with child porn related offences stemming from an intensive investigation which culminated in the execution of a search warrant and the eventual arrest of the suspect which occurred yesterday morning.

A matter was reported to the Timmins Police Service in late 2018 which commenced an intensive investigation being undertaken by the Timmins Police Service – E Crime Section, working in conjunction with the Timmins Police service – Criminal Investigations Division.

Based on the results of this comprehensive investigation, a Criminal Code Search Warrant was executed in October of 2019 at a Chenier Street residence where a significant amount of electronic equipment was seized as evidence and subjected to forensic analysis.

Based on the eventual outcome of this analysis, completed to a large degree by the OPP’s Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, a significant cache of child porn videos and images were located.

The suspect was arrested yesterday on the strength of an Arrest Warrant and taken into police custody. The seized items relevant to the offences remain in police custody to be tendered as evidence at trial. As a result of the first incident, David YATEMAN, 61, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with:
– Possession of Child Pornography contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Import, Distribute, Sell or Possess Child Pornography for the Purpose of Distribution contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
