**PORCUPINE HEALTH UNIT NEWS RELEASE**

DAILY COVID-19 UPDATE FOR TUESDAY, MAY 19, 2020

There have been no new positive cases in the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) area in the last 8 days. The total number of confirmed positive cases is 65, 6 of which remain active. As of yesterday, over 4,293 COVID-19 tests have been completed in our region. For more information, see phu.fyi/coronavirus.

As of last Friday, the number of confirmed positive cases continued its downward trend for our area. See our latest COVID-19 Epidemiology Update for more data about the pandemic: phu.fyi/covid-report.

As more businesses open today and more people leave their homes, the PHU is reminding people that we all need to continue to stay home as much as possible, send only one member per family to run errands when possible, wash hands frequently and maintain a physical distance of 2 metres when you are out. If you are not well, stay home.

Gloves do not replace frequent handwashing. While shopping, instead of using gloves, people are encouraged to wash their hands frequently using alcohol-based hand sanitizer when they arrive and when they leave the store, to avoid touching their eyes, nose, or mouth with their hands, and to wash their hands with soap and water when they get home.

Anyone with symptoms, even if they are mild, should call their health care provider or the health unit for a referral to an Assessment Centre. Our COVID-19 Information line is open today from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call the toll-free number, 1-800-461-1818, or the PHU office in your community. See phu.fyi/offices for local contact numbers.

Stay home if you are not well. Stay safe. Stay positive!
