As many across the country continue to work from home during the global Covid-19 pandemic, a world leader has suggested a 4-day work week will help rebuild the economy in her country.

Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, has floated the idea of a 3-day weekend to help boost the economy when the lock down orders are lifted.

Going forward, we must weigh the pros and cons.

10-hour work days, you can say goodbye to the typical 9am-5pm!

My mother used to work four 10-hour days at her job and loved having Friday, a long weekend every weekend? Sounds great to me!

But now you may need to pay more for childcare if you’re not able to do the school run like you used to, and that is just the tip of the ‘con’ iceberg.

At the end of the day, I hope it will be the employee’s choice to split their 40-hour work week however they see fit, rather than the employer’s, but it is a matter to time to see how the Government and Businesses respond to reopening following lifted lock down orders.
