**PORCUPINE HEALTH UNIT NEWS RELEASE**

DAILY COVID-19 UPDATE FOR FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2020

There have been no new positive cases in the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) area in the last 18 days. The total number of confirmed positive cases is 65, 1 of which remains active. For more information, see phu.fyi/coronavirus.

Although we are seeing a positive trend and the weather is getting nicer, it is strongly recommended to avoid hosting or attending yard/garage sales at this time. If you decide to host or attend these events, practice physical distancing, wear a protective face covering, wash your hands often, (including before and after handling money), and disinfect frequently touched items often if you are hosting or disinfect any items if you are purchasing.

Any PHU resident who feels they need a test for COVID-19, even if they don’t have symptoms, can go for testing at an assessment centre. Call your health care provider or the health unit to access testing. Remember that the test only tells you if you have COVID-19 at that particular time you were tested. The test will not tell you if you’ve had COVID-19 before or does not mean that you won’t be exposed after the test. Therefore, it is important to continue with measures like physical distancing, wearing a face covering where physical distancing may be challenging, frequent handwashing and staying home when you are sick.

Our COVID-19 Information line is open today from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call the toll-free number, 1-800-461-1818, or the PHU office in your community. See phu.fyi/offices for local contact numbers.

Stay home if you are not well. Stay safe. Stay positive!
