Commentary around “When The World Stops Ending” includes:

  • “This is a beautiful piece of humanity at a time of immense disruption” (Alex Manu , Toronto)
  • “Your song is an enzyme for growth”(Pablo Dues, Israel)
  • “You need to get this to Garth Brooks and “Dancing With The Stars” (Dave’s Mom, Bedford NS)

For the first time the entire world has agreed to stop and make the solution to a common crisis our common priority. In its wake the song asks the questions people everywhere are asking right now:  What will life be like when we emerge?  Will we have new priorities and shift to what we value most or will it be business as usual?

“When The World Stops Ending” was co-written in late April while in quarantine by Dave Carroll and Jamie Robinson and was produced under the same challenging conditions.

Says Dave:  “The inspiration for the tune was the pandemic but we deliberately avoided making it about this particular crisis.  We wrote the song over Zoom.  Jamie produced the music at his studio, I captured the vocals in my studio and Dave Gunning mixed and mastered the song at his place.  No one was ever in the same room in the creation and recording of this song.  For the video component, Josh Parlee of London, Ontario edited the project remotely.  That was a first for me.

We can all point to some of the devastating events that have occurred in recent days and months but they don’t constitute the complete story.  During these strange times, people have been reviewing their priorities, renewing family relationships and seeing themselves in the faces of both loved ones and strangers to come together and answer the question: “How can I be of service?”.  Hope remains, even in the most troubling times, as evidenced by the acts of kindness and selfless generosity of individuals all over the world.

Those empowering stories are what When The World Stops Ending is intending to unveil and to inspire. There is good in the world andas always, we emerge from challenging times with a choice. This song is meant to reflect our ability to respond to fear and uncertainty with love and compassion.
