For many, summer usually means camping, barbecues, road trips and days at the beach. COVID-19 remains a threat, and everyone needs to decide for themselves what level of risk they are willing to take when making plans this summer. The best and most caring thing you can do to help keep yourself, your loved ones and friends safe is to do what you can to stop the spread. It is a shared responsibility. we all play a role! Consider the following questions when making plans: Am I at higher risk because of my age? Am I at higher risk because of my medical conditions? Will I be able to maintain physical distancing? Is this event happening outdoors? Will there be lots of people there? Do I think that others will follow the public health measures? Am I travelling to an area with lots of cases? Do I have vulnerable people in my social circle? Only you can make the best decision for yourself and your loved ones.

Regardless of what you decide, to keep everyone safe, stay home if you have symptoms, continue to wash your hands often, cover your coughs and sneezes and disinfect commonly touched surfaces often. With people outside your social circle, continue to practice physical distancing and wear a mask if this isn’t possible.

Call your primary care provider or the PHU. Our COVID-19 Information line is open today from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call the toll-free number, 1-800-461-1818 or the PHU office in your community. See our office listings for local contact numbers.

Stay home if you have symptoms. Stay safe.
