Following the lead of fellow Country Trio, the formerly named Lady Antebellum, the Dixie Chicks have decided to make some changes.

With Black Lives Matter protests covering the news over the last month, the band has decided to drop the word “Dixie” from their group’s name.

The term Dixie comes from the Mason-Dixon line. Jeremiah Dixon was a surveyor of the border between Pennsylvania and Maryland, dividing the free states in the North from the Southern slave states.

The Chick’s new album, Gaslighter, is scheduled for release on July 17th! This is their first album since 2006 release Taking the Long Way.
