Buy your furry friend a gift!

A new study shows that people get more happiness out of buying something for their pet than they do when they purchase something for someone else…or even for themselves!

And it doesn’t have to be a big, expensive gift either. Researchers gave study participants $5 and randomly had them spend the money on themselves, their pets, or someone else.

The people who spent the money on themselves typically bought food. When buying for other, most people chose snacks/drinks, a gift card or a donation to charity. The pets usually got new toys or a treat.

In the end, the study determined that buying for a pet triggered the greatest happiness!

This could explain why I went to buy my dog a new collar yesterday and ended up dropping $80 at the pet store!
