BWomens crissi centreeing a bystander and not doing anything can be just as bad as committing the crime.

May is Sexual Assault Awareness month and Jenna Smith with Tranquility Health says their goal is to let victims know there is help out there.

“It’s never the victim’s fault. The responsibility is in the hands of the abusers and we want women to know they’re not alone and there’s is places in the city to get help.”

She says the chalk walk campaign is back, spreading anti-sexual messages on the city’s streets and sidewalks.

“It’s our way to spread anti-sexual assault messages across Timmins. We even write stats down like two-thirds of women know their abuser.”

Smith adds, their also asking survivors to take to social media and encourage victims to come forward that way.
